Dear Mrs. **********:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the immigration compromise in the Senate. I cannot support the compromise unless several significant changes are made.

I will support an immigration bill that secures our borders against rampant illegal immigration and provides a path to legal status for law-abiding undocumented workers already in the United States if they pay a fine and any back taxes they owe. I favor much stronger enforcement of much stronger penalties against employers who knowingly smuggle undocumented workers into the country. I favor, where efficient and appropriate, the construction of fences along the border to halt illegal entry into the country. I also support provisions that would create stiffer penalties for employers that knowingly hire illegal immigrants.

The 12 million undocumented workers in the country should not be permitted to remain in the United States unless: they have broken no other law; they are members of a family with the head of household gainfully employed; they work to learn English; they pay partial restitution for back taxes owed and they pay taxes in full once they achieve legal status.

Thank you again for contacting me. Please feel free to do so again regarding this issue or any other matter in the future.

Sincerely,

Robert Andrews

Member of Congress

No matter what your email was in regard to, chances are 99% that you will get a form letter response regarding their position on immigration reform if you mentioned the word "immigration".

If you were requesting assistance, you need to use their online privacy form to request it so it's sent directly to an immigration liaison.
