How long do we have to provide additional documentation after interview?

Hi there,

My parents had their IR5 US immigration visa interview today. However, the interviewing officer requested additional documentation that will take some time for us to obtain. The letter that they provided does not indicate any date by when this additional documentation should be provided by. Obviously, we'll try to provide it as soon as we can, but is there a timeframe that we should try to adhere to?

Appreciate any guidance!

If the letter has no deadline, then periodically your parents should inform the consulate that they remain interested in visas and they are actively gathering the requested documents. Every three weeks should be enough.

Thank you for your reply! How should the consulate be informed? Should they send them a written letter every 3 weeks, or is there a better way?
