Hello Everyone, I am new to this forum. I am a new US citizen and want to apply for a Green Card for my biological Father. He is currently residing in Karachi, Pakistan.  I want to know the process. I tried to understand the process through the USCIS Website, but I want to know more about the steps and the consular process. If someone here has applied for a Green card for their parents, who live in Pakistan, Kindly help me with what documents I need to submit with the I-130 and the rest of the process. Thanks in Advance

Have you read the information under the guides section of Visa Journey?

Senior Master Sergeant, US Air Force- Retired (after 20+ years)- Missile Systems Maintenance & Titan 2 ICBM Launch Crew Duty (200+ Alert tours)

Registered Nurse- Retired- I practiced in the areas of Labor & Delivery, Home Health, Adolescent Psych, & Adult Psych.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Was he ever listed on your immigration forms as a parent?

Is he on your birth certificate? 

 

If answers to both questions are "yes", then follow the guide, you have nothing to worry about. If the answer is no to any of these questions, there may be a complication.

File I130 petition with required documentation. Following the approval of the I 130, the case will be sent to the NVC 

 

The NVC and consulate processes canbe studied here…
