Travel with 512 AP denied

Don't take a Princess cruise (ft Lauderdale) on a i-512 AP and work authorization. It doesn't work.

We researched a lot about the CBP and the port of entry before going to try a cruise. Ideally we should have had the green card by now but still waiting...

We booked a Princess cruise and was told via travel broker and cruise agent that it's approved, as well as previous posts here showed acceptable.

So we were not surprised when they went to the manager to double check the approval or contact CBP, but was surprised to find they said that an AP is not approved to travel. Cruise was denied because of incomplete documents.

The thing is, there isn't any other documents that can be had, right? Just the green card which we all have to wait for.

Just annoyed I'm told it's not approved travel when it's literally designed for that. What's the point of that document if not to travel?

Stops were Mexico, Honduras, and Belize. However it was denied not for that but for possible denial on reentry into the US.

Interesting. Mexico’s written policy doesn’t include AP. DR policy seems more open. Honduras policy last year allowed green cards but this seems to have changed. I would not expect AP to be permitted there.    Not sure about Belize.

The denial seems correct but for the wrong reasons.

If you had B visa for the USA,  Princess  could have applied the same logic: “possible denial of reentry to CBP”.   There was no reason to deny you boarding on the basis for AP being possibly denied by CBP because CBP promises in writing to not fine carriers if they board AP holders.

Sorry Princess was so racist toward you.

It does appear a trend is emerging where AP holders and LPRs won’t be able to travel in the future.   I suspect elements in DHS are influencing air and sea carriers toward this foolish policy.

That's what I think, too.  I thought re-entry into the US would no issue.

I went to Mexico a couple of times on AP but did not need a Visa, maybe that has something to do with it?

you would have needed a UK visa to stop at Belize

and don't try Carnival

their policy is valid AP and passport that is multiple entry into US  (K1 is not)

even with green card we can not visit UK or territories without a visa

If you would normally require a visa to enter the UK, then you will have to apply for one even if you have a Green Card. Unfortunately, a Green Card does not allow the holder to enter the UK just like it does not allow them to enter the European Union.

A UK passport has a lot to do with it.

So did the OP have the appropriate visa's?

Agreed. I feel I could have gotten the visas for the ports but never got to that point. Should have done that before but it's just so weak an excuse.

Thanks for the empathy guys mostly wanted to post as I saw older posts have success and wanted to warn others.

Belize is not part of the UK.  Nor is it a territory of the UK.

Like Canada, it is a member of Commonwealth and is one of 15 Commonwealth Realms.

The government of Belize says:

NOTE: U.S. Citizens and Holders of U.S. Permanent Resident Cards/U.S. Multiple Entries Visas do not require a visa to enter Belize.”

We cruised to Belize just fine in 2021

Ap is to let you come back to usa, but not garantee enter to others country.

Green card holder can travel to many country without a visa, but not with AP only.

Until you dont have your green card on hand you arent a usa resident

Took 3 cruises on Carnival when my wife had her AP. One out of long beach to Mexico, and 2 out of Florida, one Miami, and One Orlando. Stops in all the places you went, plus more with no issues. In Miami had a little issue because employee was new, and even the supervisor wasn't sure what to do with the AP/EAD combo card. All cruise ports have a CBP office in them, I made them call the CBP lesion to come over, and he cleared everything up. This was 2019/2020, maybe things have changed, but not that I know of.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

Travel is an adventure. Especially to and from the USA. Especially if you aren’t born in USA.

This naturalized citizen was once asked: “where were you were born” before American Airlines would board him.  Infuriating but there are basically just 4 airlines and 3 cruise lines left so what can you do but grin and bear it and hope the next travel attempt goes better.
