Interview in ~ 8 hours

I had no idea that I would be so nervous for this! Ombeni will probably have his interview over with in 8 hours. I've been a big ball of nerves today, I can't eat, and I probably won't be able to sleep tonight. I know that whatever happens, happens, but ahhhhhhh!

The thought of doing this all over again if he gets denied a visa makes me so sad, but I know that's what we'd have to do. We have been so lucky that the process thus far has been really smooth and fast.

What I'm most worried about is the affidavit of support. I have a good enough paying jobes, but I've only had it for 3 months (I was a full-time student before that). I'm hoping that if they think I'm not a good sponsor, they will delay the process and give me time to find a co-sponsor. I wish I had just gone ahead and found one earlier so that I wouldn't be so scared about it now.

Wahhhh. I just want someone to hold me and tell me to shut up / stop worrying and everything will be ok and I'll see my fiance soon. :'(

I apologize for this whiny post. If you guys can console me, that would be great! If not, let this post vanish to the depths of the forgotten, stupid posts. ;)

I slept like ####### last night! His appointment was at 2 am my time. I woke up at 4 and hadn't heard from him yet, so I started to get upset. He called me at 6:30 to let me know what had happened. It turns out that the embassy hadn't received his DS-230 (mailed to them about three weeks ago) or his DS-157 (submitted online, but I told him to bring a copy of it as well), so they gave him some time to go fill it out. $30 bucks and several hours later, he came back to the embassy. Luckily, they scheduled him for another appointment today; the last time slot because fiance visas are more complicated than others.

He said his interview lasted about 45 minutes. That seems like a really long time though, and I don't really trust Tanzanians' sense of it. :) He said they asked him how we met, what I did for a living in America, and how many times I have come to visit him. I prodded him for more examples of questions, but he wouldn't elaborate; I think he was too excited because he got the visa!!! They told him to come pick up his passport tomorrow, Thursday, or Friday.

Once I get off of work, I'll try to get more details from him and do a consulate review. For having being bombed by al Qaeda in 1998, the embassy in Dar es Salaam still seems to operate in a very accomodating and efficient way. :)

Congratulations
