Our petition has been approved and is now being sent to the NVC.

1. From reading the letter, am I correct in thinking that we should hear back from them within 2-4 weeks about an interview date? Or has that timeframe changed at all recently?

2. Do I need to prepare anything on my end? What about my fiancée?

NVC doesn’t send anything about the interview. K1s usually schedule their own interviews or the consulate does, depending on the country. NVC also doesn’t send any welcome letters. It’ll take about 4-6 weeks for the NVC case to be created and it’ll sit there until the consulate requests it. If you want to find out your case number before it’s sent then you need to message NVC through public inquiry form

How do you know whether you should schedule your own interview or whether your country is one that schedules it for you and lets you know?

Researching here, searching for threads and looking at the country portal, reaching out to members who recently went though the specific consulate
