Well, I've been approved 2 weeks ago. My I-94 has been taken out of my passport. I didn't get the stamp and haven't received a GC yet, so how do I prove my legal status now?

I can't apply for SSN in meanwhile and apply for jobs, until it's here?

I have nothing now to prove I am legal.

I-485 AOS-NOA1 leter proves you are here legally waiting for I-551 green-card.

You can do some job searching, but need at least EAD or the Green-Card to get SSN, and to take a jobe.

Besides it takes a few weeks for USCIS to update the system that SSA uses to confirm the green-card, so if you did get the card a few days after interview, or showed a I-551 stamp to the person at SSA office they probably would not issue a SSN until they could confirm.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

No, you don't need a Green Card or a SSN number to take a job. You can start work now as the Green Card is approved, and you don't have to have an actual SSN to start work, you merely have to promptly apply for one.

Of course, most employers who don't understand the law believe that a SS card is required for employment, and that they have to see a Green Card, so the legal technicalities might not help you.
