Which canadian car brand/model is compliant with the US 100% with no need to install anything on it?

Hello there,

I know several people have posted situations where their car misses the tpms and/or some other things in order to be imported and that is helpful. Yet, I was wondering if anybody had an easy time importing their vehicle from Canada to the USA, meaning just got the compliance letter, it did not have to install anything extra and everything went smooth importing the vehicle. If anybody had such a case(either yourself or somebody you know please let us know), could you let us know the branch/model and year of the vehicle? and how about getting the compliance letter was it fast? easy, like how long it took between requesting the letter and  actually get the letter? you had to pay for it?

Maybe knowing which car would give us an easy time, maybe we could exchange our car in the car dealer.

Please it will be very helpful to us,

Thanks and have a lovely day,

Most North American branded vehicles build in NAm or MX are compliant (there's a sticker in the door or under the hood, typically).  Just pull up the import instructions and look at what is needed.  Usually TPMS is the kicker.

Remember, if your vehicle is financed, you'll either need permission from the lienholder to import it or you'll have to pay it off and have a clear title in hand.

If you planned to exchange a vehicle, wouldn't it make more sense just to sell it and buy something compliant in the US?  It saves the import headaches, duty/taxes and whatever your state requirements are (VIN inspections, emissions inspections, etc).  If your current vehicle has equity in it, that can serve as a down payment on a US vehicle and you can negotiate a rate to get a good deal and build credit.

I brought a 2008 Ford Ranger and a 1996 Suzuki motorcycle with me when I immigrated in 2017. You'll need a manufacturer's letter stating compliance. I didn't have to do anything with either vehicle. The letter from Suzuki was free, and requested from them directly. The letter for the Ford came through a dealership and cost me $100!
