Malarky.  This evidence is not to prove you're really married.  The marriage certificate is what does that.  The evidence we're talking about is about the bona fides of the marital RELATIONSHIP, not its legality.  Note also that while some photos are important, they are considered secondary evidence of time spent together in person.  Passport stamps, boarding passes, and receipts are primary evidence of where you actually traveled and when.

Ok thanks, this makes sense.

Rich or poor is not the question, it is about having the required evidence to have a smooth immigration journey.  I would read through this thread a couple more times, and then read the instructions a few more times.  Good luck.

@LemonsliceOk I think I get it here. I respond with any sort of correction and I get “good luck”.  You stated “since the op doesn’t seem to want to share financial stuff with their wife…” which is completely false. And I corrected.. You respond with “good luck”

I really want to wish you good luck.  Read the instructions, follow the instructions.  Plenty of tips in this thread on how to show good evidence, and I have even said that I *too* felt some of what is required is ridiculous/has to fit in a mold that is far from how we live our relationship.  However, you will realize that it is much easier to take the easy way and "just do it", than to argue about the requirements.

Kind of a side comment maybe, but the OP was, as are many, initially confused about what was required and what wasn't.  That "list" found in a "checklist" omits the part that makes it clear that NONE of those things are required.  What IS required is required.  What is suggested is suggested.  Most of the suggestions don't apply to people who haven't lived together yet.  The same form is used for people who HAVE lived together even IN the USA and are adjusting status.

Very often people filing online never even know there ARE pdf instructions for this form, so they never see or study them.  Filing the I-130 online is not ready for prime time yet IMO, and this is only one of the several reasons for that opinion.

@pushbrkMy original question to you was just out of confusion because I know that wording is very specific from the i129, I don’t remember seeing it anywhere in the 130. You and some other have provided some good thoughts, other have been less than helpful.  Thanks push

I don't understand how the I-129 (Really I-129F) got into the discussion.  I thought you got your list from the instructions.  You didn't. You got it from a "checklist".  That's why becoming an A-Student of the actual instructions is so critical to your ultimate success.

I got it from

https://www.uscis.gov/i-130

trying to use the actual website to determine what I need to submit. Near the bottom, expand “required evidence”

the 129 came up because I thought your wording came from the instructions for its evidence which I was already familiar with.

Again, you mean I-129F not I-129.  I take it you are filing online, so didn't see the PDF instructions.  That list is not a list of required evidence.  The list of required evidence is in the actual instructions.  None of my wording came from the I-129F.  It came from the REAL instructions, evidently not directly available from what you are referring to as the "actual website" for filing online.

Correct, filing online. No I haven’t seen any instructions from the online form. Just that on the page I referenced. I know we talked about virtual mailboxes before for my mailing address. I need a virtual mailbox that will scan my mail and that is reputable, ups store doesn’t seem to offer this service from what I can tell. I’m also not super clear if I’m supposed to file the i130a online or mail that in because I haven’t made it that far. Am I correct in understanding that because my spouse is in Mexico I can fill the form without her needing to sign it?

Yeah that’s not happening. For many reasons.

None of us with spouses in their home countries had any of this.  I literally had one visit/wedding before I filed LOL.
Attach evidence of your trips, marriage cert, ID info, maybe a couple photos and send it in.  You are worrying for nothing.  You’re not going to share banking and credit or any of that stuff until she gets a SS number anyway - the ONLY thing I did when I got back after getting married was enroll my wife in benefits (health etc) pending SS number (the window opens on change of circumstances) but many do not want to pay for health insurance that cannot be used outside the US so they don’t even do that.

She does not need to sign the I-130a.  There are many reasons I recommend filing by mail but it is your choice.  I highly recommend downloading the pdf form and the pdf instructions, even if you file by mail.  The issue we are discussing here is one of the prime reasons.  The online form has a number of gremlins.

Yeah I’ve seen that recently, where the online form was blank. Ok thanks for the advice.
