Confused about the next step...

1\ when to fill DS160? some people say when CEAC status shows "in trasit", some say "ready"

2\ when to book appt? after receive package 3 or after CEAC status shows "ready"

Does anyone has any advice??:star:

Wait!  Do not take any steps without the command of the embassy.  Await further instructions from the embassy.

So as soon as we got the notification that we were "in transit" and our case # we did the ds 160 per the advice here in VJ. I did a new intent to marry and mailed to my partner. Yesterday we also registered on the usatraveldocs website but you will not be able to proceed to schedule appt until you are instructed to by the embassy. Just ready to get everything uploaded.

Hey everyone,

NVC responded to my inquiry today (sent Monday) but only with a case number. I didn't receive any invoice ID or anything. I was told it wasn't needed to complete DS-160.

So now I just wait to hear from them again? This next step is a little confusing.

Thanks!

You can start the ds160. Highly suggest completing together! Save the application ID in case you can't finish all at once. The beneficiary will need to print confirmation page for interview; but you have the ability to email as well at the end of the application. Now you wait for notice that your petition is "in transit" to embassy. Start collecting the documents petitioner needs to upload and I would complete the affidavit of support too-so that it's ready.

I hope that helps. We are in this together!

Thank you so much! I already have the I-134 ready to go and will plan to complete the DS-160 together this weekend.

With the affidavit of support are this years tax transcripts needed as well? Thanks again!

This is the part I'm nervous about if you find the answer please let me know. The transcript isn't ready on IRS yet for 2022 for me.

Will do, mine probably isn't ready either as I only filed taxes a couple weeks ago.

I have my transcript from 2021 just incase.

NOA2: Jan 20, 2023

The NVC sent back our case to USCIS on Mar 13, 2023. I checked our USCIS case status and it now says, “Department of State sent case to USCIS for review”.

Has anyone seen this before, or know what reason they might’ve sent it back for? My fiancé and I are very worried now, and discouraged after waiting for so long already. Some reassurance or encouragement would be appreciated. Mahalo.

I think I've read this elsewhere and it was because USCIS needs to correct something entered incorrectly. I wish I could've found it and linked here for you. Sorry that happened. Also read that if it was their fault you can request to expedite your case. Not sure if that would work but worth a shot.

Thanks for your reply. We’ll definitely give it a shot. And we’re crossing our fingers that the reason was for what you said, rather than an error on our part. If we receive an RFE after this it’s not gonna be the end of the world, but it will be a big heartbreaker.

Just checked in CEAC, our case is "ready" now!! It only took a friday + weekend to arrived in Guangzhou embassy 🚀

Next step: complete ds160, I134 form and set up appt date

We also have the problem with 2022 tax report, since my fiance just filed taxes a couple weeks ago too lol. Please let me know as well if @kcpaty @SaraClaire11 have any updates on that, I appreciate it a lot(L)
