I am debating where to vacation in a warm climate with my fiance once he arrives here. I thought Miami would be good but October seems to be a hurricane season for Florida. Where else can we travel so that it would be more of a carribean style? I am thinking Puerto Rico but i want to be 10000% sure that it's OK for him to travel there without his GC and that he'll be allowed back into US.

Thanks to all :)

Anyplace in the US is fine, as long as you make no stops outside the US. (Direct flights to USVI/PR/Alaska/HI are fine).

Hurricane season is just as bad anywhere around the Gulf of Mexico and the Carribean, Miami is no better or worse.

For as much news coverage as there is, hurricanes are actually fairly rare. We haven't had a major one here in Tampa for over 50 years. October is really the end of the season anyway (water is too cold by then). August/Sep seem to be the worst in my experience.

I know that he can travel within US without any problems but I wasn't too sure about P.R.

So going to florida in October shouldn't be that bad? How warm is it in florida in october?

Thanks russ

Also there are several cruises that go to St.Martin, St.John, and some other US virgin islands, i am assuming that they are OK as well but just want to be very sure about it before creating any problems.

Just starting to get nice. Now until the end of September is just hot. Oct - Dec is perfect, by January it is cool (but still pleasant).

NYGirl,

My fiance and I (she's my wife now) went to Ft Myers Beach in early December a couple years ago. The weather was great. The water was cool, but the Russian in her scoffed at it and pulled me in. It was really very, very nice. We will return there -- not exactly there by maybe a nearby Florida island -- sometime after she returns on the K3.

The gulf side has the very nice advantage of sunsets on the water, if you like that sort of thing. The beaches can be lovely. We saw lots of dolphins, pelicans, that sort of thing right from our beachside hotel window.

Since you're from Florida russ, where would you recomend to stay..........Miami, Ft.Lauderdale, West Palm beach or somewhere else? I've been to Florida many times in almost every possible city but honestly don't remember the best spot. More often i stood in Ft.Lauderdale. We're young so we definitely want a spot where they have an entertainment for young people and live music, good restaurants and other nice interesting activities.
