Financial Documents for NVC Processing (merged)

I just made my payments for NVC Processing and the next step is the I-864 Affidavit of Support and Financial Documents.

The DoS website provided a three step Financial Evidence Assistant. The tool generated that I need to submit the following:

" Please submit an IRS tax transcript from the most recent tax year, which can be processed more efficiently than a copy of a tax return. Alternatively, you may submit a complete copy of a filed tax return from the most recent tax year.  In addition, please submit:  Evidence of Income / Proof of Assets you may choose to use "

I accessed my IRS Account and found four PDF documents pertaining to my taxes, they are as follows:
1. Account Transcript

2. Record of Account Transcript

3. Return Transcript

4. Wage and Income Transcript (although this one requires me to submit a form to retrieve it)

Which of these four documents do I need to submit as an acceptable "IRS Tax Transcript", if any?

Furthermore, what is the best way to provide Evidence of Income and Proof of Assets? (In what format should I be providing this evidence?)

If you select "Immigration" as the reason for needing a transcript from IRS.gov, the page will highlight the Return Transcript.

As @pushbrk pointed out in your previous thread, best to get the details from the I-864 instructions -- https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-864instr.pdf

Page 8 lists examples of evidence of income you may submit.  Page 9 tells you that assets are not required if you already meet the income requirement.  If you do need to use assets, it details the documentation to include about the value of the assets.

I would add that for an employed person, evidence of current income would be a pay stub.

Would it be okay to submit an employment verification letter that will also include my salary in USD, as a proof of employment/income? I can either ask my employer to prepare one, or I can provide them a specific template to fill out.

If I have the "Return Transcript" available to me via the IRS Website will I still need to fill out Form 4506-T ? Page 9 of the I-864 Instructions says this is the method of obtaining Tax Transcripts, but they do not mention obtaining them electronically.

Yes, but it so much simpler to just submit a pay stub.

Not everyone has online access to their transcripts, so form 4506-T was mentioned.  If you are able to download your return transcripts from the IRS site, that's fine.  No need to send the form.

Chancy, would it be advise for for them to wait until they 2022 taxes, because tax season just started, and if they wait until the new transcript it would be the 2022 version.

I'm not sure if that been mention..

I am currently preparing to fill out the I-864 Form as the main sponsor and gathering necessary Financial Documents for myself and our joint sponsor. Is it going to be a problem that I currently live abroad with my spouse who I am applying for? But, we plan on moving to the USA after her paperwork is approved/complete. If this is a concern then how can I manage through this? Because, we genuinely plan on moving to the states when my spouse receives an Immigrant Visa.

Also, does our joint sponsor need to send me all of his forms and documents? Or should he be submitting any documents on his own?

Thanks again for your help.

If OP is able to file 2022 taxes now, that would be good.  If the 2022 transcripts are not yet available, submit a copy of the filed tax returns (1040 + W2 + 1099 + all schedules).

If they are not able to file 2022 taxes yet, it's ok to use the 2021 transcripts as the latest tax filing if OP is able to submit the case for NVC review before April 18, 2023.

Also, does our joint sponsor need to send me all of his forms and documents? - Everything will have to be uploaded in CEAC so it doesn't matter who uploads them. Probably will be best if joint sponsor provides you the documents to upload.

Thanks again for your help.

You need the originals I 864,  iRS tax transcripts and copy of a US ID (for joint sponsor) to prove physical ID in USA

so, get them from joint sponsor and download them
