I lived by myself for a lot of years, so I did my own laundry.  That being said, the wife only lets me do the bedding and my workout clothes, the rest she does herself.  Something about just throwing everything in together and washing everything in cold.

The bottom line: Gradually, our confidence grew. We never felt range anxiety again — even when the battery level fell below 10% and the dashboard flashed orange warnings.

Hmm, we drove from North Port to North of Detroit in 19 hrs with just seven 5-10 minute stops (two for fuel as we started with a full tank and five for bathroom/driver switches).  We did not have to sacrifice comfort as we got further North.

It was interesting that there was no discussion on if they had trouble charging at any of their stops.  There are a lot of stories out there about the unreliability of the public charging stations.

 

On another note, but still on topic.  If you have a Ford Lightning on order, it seems there will be delays.

The Detroit Free Press first reported news of a vehicle fire. Earlier this week, Ford confirmed it had halted production and stopped shipments of the vehicle over an unidentified battery problem. The F-150 Lightning is built at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn.

This is another interesting tidbit.  Relative to the vulnerability of EVs over ICEs, I think that is more to do with companies pouring more tech into EVs right now than those old ICE models.  Also, this article is a bit dated, so there may have been some security added, but I suppose the hackers are not sitting still either.

I believe anything that is web connected can be hacked.  One of the reasons we are not fans of connected devices for the home.  And yes, many ICE vehicles are being updated with similar technology.

I still wonder all the hype over the IoT.  Is a connected refrigerator, garage door opener, electric locks, thermostat really any better than their unconnected counterparts?  What is the benefit?   I only read the Wired article where they seem to put the blame on the lack of security, but they really don't answer the question posed in the headline.

I don't know. I don't get it either. They tried really hard to sell me on a connected washer. "But if you forget to turn it on you can start it with your phone! If you want to know the laundry is done the timer will sound on your phone! You can leave the soap in the washer and it will auto-dispense! You can download hundreds of ringtones and settings!" Er.... no thanks. If I want a set it and forget it setting on a oven, most have shabbat settings (freezers and fridges do too), I have a whiteboard to write grocery lists on, and the less 'smart' those stupid washers are the better. A hotel last year had everything through your phone app - parking, elevator, room service, door key, lights, thermostat, even the TV! Don't know how secure that is.

I doubt very, especially given the security level of their public wifi.
