Is it worth requesting NVC to transfer our case to another country

Good evening. I ham trying to determine if it would be smart for me to request with NVC to Transfer our CR1 Visa case from Nigeria to South Africa. We were DQ'd a few weeks ago and our Consulate is Lagos, Nigeria. Apparently they are still coordinating interviews for cases that were DQ'd in 2021!!

My husband is Nigerian, but currently resides in South Africa and has his permit.

1. Does anyone know how difficult it is to get NVC to approve a transfer request? And how long?

2. Does anyone know about how long it is taking Johannesburg, South Africa to send out IL's? Because if it as backed up as Nigeria, then I won't waste our time.

3. Lastly, if we do have to stick it out for another year or so, is it OK for my husband to get a tourist visa so he can visit me? I've already been to him 3 times.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice. This is such an emotional Rollercoaster.  We started the whole process in August 2021. I had no idea that a U.S. citizen would have to go through such a lengthy process just to have the love of my life with me everyday. I know there are alot of others dealing with the same thing. Prayers to everyone.

It is not very difficult. I would contact NVC asap through public inquiry, attach a copy of his SA permit and briefly explain the situation. You will wait a while for a response as they’re backed up answering public inquiries.

You can check out Immigration Timelines here on VJ and filter out results for SA. From what I see it seems much faster than Nigeria.

Highly unlikely he will get a tourist visa with a USC wife and a strong immigrant intent. But it’s only $160 to find out so he’s free to apply and try his chances
