Hi everybody,

before I ask you for help I want to say that this forum helped me a lot till now and I am hoping I helped also atleast somebody. There is great information and realy nice people in all forums in visajourney.

Anyways, I am a resident , my mom is visting on a tourist visa, her visa expires in October. I want to extened her visa for 6 more months. I see in the web site uscis that this is possible if my mom have good reason and proof why she wants to stay 6 more months. I have a baby and I need my mom. I know this can be a problem if we tell the uscis the actual reason for mom`s extantion. My question is what is the best reason to say and proof?

On the other side, soon I will be a citizen(if everything goes right) and I want to apply for my mom for a resident card. My question is. If I apply for extention for my mom`s visa will we have problems later (when I am citizen) when I apply for a resident card. And also what if they refuse to eztend her visa, will we have a problem later when I apply for a resident card for her.

Please if you know smth give me your advise, if it is not enough clear the way I explained it I will add more info.

I have to mention that no metter what happens my mom will never stay here illegal, that`s why I need advise.

Thank you everybody

It could be an even bigger problem to fabricate a reason. There is no better answer than to tell the truth. If the truth falls short for justification, she will have to return on time or face the consequences.

Also, it has been ruled that an overstay cannot be used to deny adjustment of status where the basis for adjustment is marriage to a USC. There has been no such ruling regarding the adjustment of a parent.

Having a baby is a reason good enough for them to allow her to stay. She is the grandma afterall and wants to see her grand child. I dont believe they will refuse her extension based on this reason. Not an expert opinion though!

Thank you for your respond

Of course, there is no way my mom to stay here illegal, I am sooooooo against that. Of course I am going to say the truth but I was hoping if somebody knows the law about that so I don`t need to try to extend the visa if it`s clear that she is not going to be approved.

Thank you

May be it`s good idea to keep truck here in the form who got approved and who denied. I hope somebody will respond on that to help other people .
