I don't think she meant she was out to sue. I think her basic question is whether or not she has any recourse against discrimination.

No, I knew what she meant. It's just funny how that's the first thing of concern. IF she can sue.

A chance at "free" money? Sure why the hell not. I see she posted another thread in the K1 forum asking about qualifying income. Does 1+1 actually equal 2?

depends if it's a republican or democrat doing the math

oh cmon don't bust on her for where she's posting. she's learning.

as far as the sue for discrimination:

fancypants you've been to the philippines & you know how sh!tty the "upper" class is to everyone else. i think you're spot on about what she's asking-not so much sueing everyone, but, does she have to take it?-

asianbeauty- things are a lot different here than in the philippines, and i really doubt you're going to have any problems because you are asian. you will encounter more rude people here than you do now...but, before long...you'll be getting nasty right back with those people. no you don't have to take it.

There's as many stereotypes out there about us Americans as there are of all them foreigners. :P

I wasn't trying to stereotype...I realize there are many Americans as well as any other ethnic backgrounds who are eager to find a reason to sue others. Not trying to insinuate one nationality is prone to this than another.

It is the American way to be able to sue anyone for anything you like. I don't agree with this but if you want to sue someone all you have to do is file a complaint with the court clerk. This doesn't mean you will win it only means that you can take the matter before a judge.

I know you're not, Karen. I'm pointing out that she's bought into the stereotype of Americans suing their way out of every dispute. :P

We need a law in the us That if you sue and loose you pay both legal fees and all court costs. This would eliminate frivolous lawsuits.

I agree we shouldn't be loose about our lawsuits, but I don't think every one who loses a lawsuit is because it was frivolous. Money talks...loosely, and those without much money are the real losers in the end. Phew...my mind feels all loose now.

1st excuse my English. Thank you.

I would like to know my rights as a legal resident there when I am married to an American Citizen.

What can I do if I will be discriminated in going inside a rich restaurant or shopping at rich stores, and they don't want me inside because of my ethnicity? One of my friends from the Philippines went inside a store, she could afford to buy the store's products but she wasn't treated well because she is Asian. I don't want that to happen to me. Can I sue them? what about if others are too harsh on me; nasty words, disrespecting me, insulting where I came from, etc.. I can excuse 1-3times I think but if I couldn't take it anymore?

Please advice. Thank you very much!

Hey Asianbeauty,

Where in the U.S. are you going to live? Where I live everyone and his uncle is Asian, so it's hard to imagine any discrimination against Asians.

Also, it's very unusual for a store to discriminate against a customer, because unless they are retarded idiots, they would want you to but their products. So normally, even if you were a little green fellow from Mars unable to speak any of the Earth languages, staff at the store would try to do their best to explain things to you using body language (nodding, etc) and if you buy from them, they would help you carry your stuff to the cash register, and thank you for your business a million times. I mean, that's what they normally do, but if it happens to be some small privately owned store - well, maybe they can discriminate (not that it's legal, of course). In this case, don't buy from them. Sure, you can try to sue if you experience some outright discrimination, but you will need a lot of proof that it really happened.
