IV Interview Location Changed?

I received an email from the NVC stating that there has been a change to the interview location. They've decided to change it to an embassy in a different country. Is it possible to change it back. There is a consulate that's not far from where I live. I am not sure why they didn't choose that as the interview location. They initially chose an embassy that's 8 hours away, and now they chose a different country that's 3 hours away by plane. Anyone know what I am dealing with here? And if I can do anything to change it to request the interview take place at the consulate in the city where I live.

You must contact the consulate you want to ask if they will accept the case.

Where are you and which embassy did you choose? Maybe that will already help to give you an answer.

Like @Crazy Cat said, you can contact the embassy you want and ask if they take your case. Then it can be rerouted

No meaningful answer to your question can be given without knowing the country or countries involved.  Note however, that not all "Consulates" have immigrant visa units.  At most, there is IV unit per country.

No idea.  Fill out your timeline.

Consulates don’t usually have an IV unit.

Technically correct, since many countries have multiple Consulates but only one IV unit.  However, MANY countries have their IV units at Consulates instead of Embassies.  Of significant note, are China, Mexico, Germany, and Canada.

I’m going all in that OP is in one of the 100+ countries that doesnt

Dhahran consulate is huge.  Big USC presence and they are all plugged in.  The high school is attached to it.
But:  You wanna play immigration you go to Riyadh.  Even SB1 when the CO’s know you and your family.  They can offer off the record advice but can’t touch it.
