I came across four different I-864 Forms ( I-864   I-864EZ  I-864A  I-864-W )

 

I am currently living with my spouse abroad. I work as an ex-pat and don't have an income from a US Company nor do I make enough working abroad to be paying certain taxes. I do have a friend in the United States who is willing to be a joint-sponsor. My question is which one of these forms should we be filling out?

Friend: I-864

You: I-864

If friend files taxes jointly, then spouse of friend: I-864A.

 

Total: 3 forms

 

You will file as the main sponsor, regardless of your income. Friend will file as a joint sponsor.

The above is correct, but before filling out anything, become an A-Student of the I-864 instructions.  That's critical to your ultimate success.

Is it okay to fill the I-864 out digitally by inputting text via Adobe PDF Editor as long as we provide a physical signature, scan, and re-upload?

Yes, but best to use an Adobe app like Adobe Reader or Acrobat.  The form is designed for that an will work properly if you do.
