IR-5 Philippines - 1 year and still waiting for interview schedule

I petitioned my father in Sept 2019 (pre-covid). Went through all the hoops and finally was documentarily qualified on 1/20/2022. His case is still at NVC. I have sent a few emails to NVC and was told that they are waiting for an interview date and nothing is available. Also sent a few emails to the US Consulate in Manila and was told NVC has the documents and they cannot do anything. Is this a normal timeline? I have read the Visa Updates on their website in June 2022 that they have processed most IR cases that were documentarily qualified in March 2021. I don’t think we qualify to expedite the case unless they can accept old age and depression because of how long this is taking.

Contact your congressman.  A nudge from the congressman's inquiry wouldn't hurt.

You can contact NVC to expedite his case.

 

But first - you need to make sure your documents and forms on CEAC are current. Update your I-864 with the most recent tax year (2021) and update the supporting documents (2021 IRS tax transcript, 2022 W2, optionally you can also add 2020 and 2019 IRS tax transcripts and three months of paystubs). Your dad's NBI clearance will also need to be updated (they are only good for a year) as well as his 2x2 photos (those are good for 6 months). If you need to update your DS-260, you need to contact NVC to 

request them to reopen the form.

 

Once you have made those updates, request the expedite by email NVCExpedite@state.gov

 

NVC will forward your request to the Embassy and they will make the decision - I have no doubt they will approve this - your dad has been in a queue a long time.

 

I joined an FB group of IR5 Visa Journey folks, and many of them are Filipinos who have taken action on their own cases - because in you wait for the Embassy to do the scheduling, you will wait far longer.

By any chance, do you think we can also do that with F2A case? Cause my nephew was already approved since October 2022 and its still on NVC.. NVC told us the same that theres no available appointment at the consulate.

My father inlaw emailed NVC to expedite her case and it got approved the next day

 

Now status says IN TRANSIT

I checked on ceac, it says it's currently at Manila now.

 

Try to expedite, explain your reasons.

You can try - on the Visa Bulletin, F2A is current.- it is also a matter of available visas for that category, which I believe has a yearly quota. (I could be wrong)

In that case you may need to update the I-864 and any documents that have expired. Police clearances are only valid for a short period and 2x2 pictures are only good for 6 months.
