This is actually a Whatsapp group from people waiting for interview in the Rio de Janeiro Consulate. There are more than 600 people waiting for the interview there. Our case was addressed to Rio, but since I live in Portugal, we transferred the case to Paris recently. As there is a lot of people on this list, we can clearly see that ILs usually are sent on the first week of every month (that helped me to cool down my anxiety, because before knowing that I was checking my e-mail every single day), and in the last batch of interviews they invited only DQs from May and June 2023.

The people that were invited in the last batch of interviews, are they from Rio? As that doesn't seem right for Paris, it's got a much shorter wait for an interview than Rio does.

Or perhaps their PD's weren't current until recently?

Yes, they were all waiting for an interview in Rio. There are few people in this group who are applying abroad, like at the Paris Consulate (Brazilians that live in Portugal or France) for example. Apparently, for most of the Consulates, the NVC manages to schedule the interviews according to the DQ, no matter where is going to be your interview. There are few exceptions like Canada, that due to its proximity to the USA, has a high demand for US visa applications, and probably because of that, has a huge waiting list there. But for most of the Consulates, NVC schedules all DQs from June23 quite at the same time, for example. It might have a little variance of 1 month between the Consulates, but the line is pretty the same almost everywhere unfortunately.

It varies hugely. Montreal is one of the longest, but so are other places like Islamabad, Lagos, etc. They can be 2 years or more, other countries are around a year (Ghana for example) and then others are only a month or so (London, Berlin etc).

Rio is much longer than Paris, so that's why those people who were DQ'ed in April/May last year have been waiting so long. If your case has recently been transferred to Paris, then you should hear soon.

Good luck.

Really weird to waiting so long, especially in Paris. There's no backlog for EB categories for this Embassy and not a lot of applicants. If you have a look on another Reddit chat about October 2024 predictions, you see that this month there's was a lot of people getting their GC with PD from November to January 2023. You're current, your PD is December 2021 if I remember, since that they forgot you !

It seems that for Paris we’ll have to wait roughly 10 months or a year then to get our IL. At least we have expectations but it’s also so much longer than other visa categories…

Let’s keep it each other posted and try to forget about it for a few months I guess.

10 months is quite long. You said before that you contacted the Paris embassy and they told you your case is still at NVC. Did you email the embassy? Could you share the contact here? I wonder if it is because of the Olympics in Paris this summer or it's because of NVC not doing their work...

Oh that's right! Sorry @Natashavilacha, never mind!
So if I've just read everything correctly in this thread, we have the following people currently on the waiting list for Paris: @isimoes (DQ Jul/23), @zaboo26 (DQ Nov/23), myself (DQ Nov/23) and @Cool-ant_622 (DQ Dec/23). Let's cross our fingers that this line moves fast!

Hi there! Still waiting! DQ 3/July/2023.

I just found this paragraph on the NVC inquiry webpage (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html) concerning the interview scheduling:

Quote

Interviews

The U.S. Embassy or Consulate tells NVC which dates they are holding interviews. NVC fills these appointments on a first-in, first-out basis and cannot predict when an interview will be scheduled.

Once complete, your case will remain at NVC until an appointment is scheduled, at which time we will send it to the appropriate U.S. Embassy or Consulate. We will notify the applicant, petitioner, and attorney (if applicable) when an appointment is scheduled.

Note the first sentence, " The U.S. Embassy or Consulate tells NVC which dates they are holding interviews.", somehow I totally missed this before. So, I think if there is a delay in the interview scheduling, most likely it is due to the embassy.

Joining this conversation! DQed' in November 2023. Waiting for the Embassy to give me an interview date in Paris. This is getting long. I am supposed to start a job in NYC on October 1st, 2024.

Welcome! That's indeed worrying... There was another data point in this tread that was DQ'ed in July 2023 and is still waiting.

@appleblossomI already provided my timeline above - PD date June 2021/ DQed end of October-November 2023. Yes, I have been getting the email from the NVC telling me I am still in line. EB2 visa. Yes, I am a French national.

I have just learned that there will be no appointment at the Paris Embassy in August because of the Olympics. I am concerned that the Olympics have created a backlog, as the Embassy has been focusing on this. I am frustrated and concerned. I may try to get my interview in another country.
