I guess they don't expect I-751 processing times to decrease.  My wife's I-751 took only 44 months from filing to approval.

I think they don't want to. Look at N400's. They are getting approved super super fast and I suspect they will get faster in the future, N400's are more complicated and the implications of becoming an american are bigger. For whatever reason USCIS does not care about I751 with around 1-2 percent denials.

Yeah,I just the new update by email from uscis,announcing the change- sooooo everyone with pending I-751 is getting an extension of the extension letter 🤪🙄🤷‍♀️🤬

I-751s are a cash cow.  Take the client's money and sit on it.....then wait for them to send MORE money (N-400) before taking any action.  They should refund the I-751 fee for anyone who has a combo interview (I know, a pipedream).

Baffling that we just got reports of new I-751 filers receiving 36 month extension letters and in 2 days it's changing to 48 months. 

 

How do conditional green cards even have a purpose now if they get extended by FOUR years just by filing ROC?

This is insane... But I have international travel coming up and my 24 month extension is expiring later this year, so I am fine. I just hope that they will actually send updated extension letters for existing petitions!

This is hilarious. I cannot believe they just sent both 24 and 36 month extensions to January filers, when they knew this was coming. Complete clustermess.

I wish I shared your optimism. At this point I expect either zero movement on my app until I file for N400 next year, or maybe a sub-10% chance I get a biometrics re-use notice before then!

That would be even better! I will take the 48 YEAR  extension letter for now
