These  are great ideas, but USCIS has to work within the constraints of Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. IRCA introduced removal of conditions. 
 

A plastic, credit card size extension document that extends a 2 year card by 100 years would work.

USCIS needs their cash cow.  The ROC has been an absolute joke since late 2016 which was when my wife filed.  Back then the extension letter was only 12 months, then I think about two years later it was changed to 18 months, then 24 and now 36.  Add that to the planned fee increase to $1195 it seems USCIS will do everything they can to put couples into the position of needing to file for ROC, and then sit on those applications.

I think fraudulent marriages end up in a divorce and immediate I-751 filing with a waiver.  They never even reach the 2 year mark.  Statistically, only 1% to 3% of I-751s are ultimately denied.

Also genuinely curious to know how many of those 1-3% denials are due to the marriage being actually adjudicated by interview and deemed not genuine or just... technical problems with the applicant like errors in filing or processing, failing to respond to an RFE, missed appointments, and things of that nature.

 

The ROC process is purely revenue generation at this point.

Good question.  The low denial numbers certainly (imo) justify the elimination of the I-751 and they prove the consulates are obviously doing a great job of weeding out the fraud before CR-1s are issued.  The law needs to change.

The current law just enables fraud. The law starts off by saying: you can remove donations if you are still married 2 years later.  Then laws but there is a waiver if you get divorced. Thats pretty much how the skilled fraudster works it and the best just arrive in the USA never to be seen by their petitioner spouse again. 
 

Pointless. 
 

Whereas before IRCA, INS was known to drop in on married couples unannounced, years after the fact, to see if they were still in a state of marital union. 
 

Get rid of the law or get rid of the divorce waiver.

Based on anecdotal stories here on VJ, the last ones I saw were due to trying to reschedule an interview.

NOA just came in the mail today, I was expecting a 24month extension for my husband but instead we got the 36mons as well. Although I wonder if it varies by the service centers? Coz ours clearly have potomac sc on the bottom of the letter and potomoc is known to be the longest when it comes it processing times. Im not complaining regarding the 36mons extension but also this kind of confirm to us not to expect anything in the next 2years or so from i751

My Potomac extension was only 24 months - received by them January 9

@FatzJD that's kinda the subject of the thread. People seem to receive 36 months letters for freshly submitted I-751 petitions. I think this should be across all service centers. During transition people may be receiving a mix of 24 and 36 months letters until everybody start receiving 36.
