Hello, I have a question regarding length of stay as US citizen married to a former Filipino citizen  now turned US citizen. We are planning to go back Home to Philippines and stay more than 30 days. if within those 30 days we travel to  japan and come back to Philippines, does that reset the 30 days allowed to stay in the Philippines?

Thank you!

If I’m not mistaken, you are eligible for the Balikbayan visa at Philippine Port of Entry by virtue of your spouse (unless you are a same sex couple), as such you can stay for one year visa free.

He says she is a former citizen. Have to apply for duel citizenship for Balikbayan visa.I think  a few days in Japan should reset the clock though.

The Philippines’ Balikbayan program allows a one-year visa-free stay for Filipinos working overseas and for former Filipinos who have acquired citizenship in certain countries, like the United States.

The visa-free stay privilege is extended to the balikbayan’s non-Filipino spouse and children, on the two conditions that (1) they enter the Philippines with the balikbayan and (2) they are citizens of an eligible country, like the United States.

I am a former citizen of the Philippines and have returned to PI as Balikbayan.

I stand corrected, good to know. I was informed by my wifes cousin that we needed to have dual citizenship. Will have to inform her also. Thanks
