Hi All,

Due to be starting a masters in August of 2023 and will have to apply for the F1 visa soon, just wondering

does anyone know can I enter on a holiday visa (ESTA) around the June or July time before the F1 starts?

Was hoping to have a family holiday but not sure if their is a rule in place about entering before a certain amount of

days before the start of the F1 visa start date.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No such restriction.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

But, just to be clear -- if you enter on ESTA, you can't stay until the start of your classes and just start attending school.  You will need to leave the US and re-enter using your F-1 visa.  You cannot apply for a Change of Status from an ESTA entry -- even if you could, it wouldn't be processed in time for you to start classes.  You can enter the US with your F-1 student visa up to 30 days before the start date on your I-20.
