Not sure if my case has been accepted or not at NVC

Hello,

Could someone help me understand please a couple of things.

I have 2 cases at NVC (wife and son). Both cases have accepted Affidavit of support and applicant information. I have received an email from one saying that they will now work with the US Embassy in Paris to schedule an interview but not the other case. Do you think that this email is for both cases? I am guessing that they are dealing with both cases as one but I want to be sure.

Also, has anyone got any idea of the timeframe for interviews at the Paris Embassy?

Many thanks for your help and best of luck with all your visa processes.

Your wife's and son's cases are separate cases.  Each should get an NVC email and/or CEAC inbox message with the words "Documentarily Qualified" (DQ).  The DQ email would list the specific case ID.  Only after a case is DQ will it be queued for interview at the consulate.

Hi Chancy

Many thanks for this information. Is that the case even if my son is 3 years old?
My wife’s case was accepted but an element was missing for my son’s case to be accepted. I sent that missing element straight away which was then accepted with that email being sent. It gave me the impression that both were being dealt with together.
I have no idea what is missing for my wife’s case. I sent them a message a month ago and never got a reply even though the reply timeframe is 2 weeks.
How shall I go about this?

If your son's case is CR2 or IR2 visa class, then yes, it's a separate case from your wife's CR1/IR1 case.  As you are seeing now, each case requires its own set of documentary evidence, which are reviewed by NVC separately.  That said, it is possible (and recommended) for you to request NVC to link the 2 cases, if you haven't already done so.  That way, after both cases get DQ at NVC, your wife and son will be scheduled together for visa interview.

Just checking -- is he your biological son?  If so, were you already a US citizen at the time of his birth?

Did you spend at least 5 years (total) in the US?

If so, were 2 of those years after you turned 14 years old?

Do you have school/employment/medical records from those years you were in the US?

I'm asking because your son might already be a US citizen.  If there is a chance your son is already a USC, the consulate will deny your son an IR2 visa, as USCs are not eligible for any kind of US visa.

I already tried that route and he was not eligible. So I am now taking him through the same process as my wife. IR2 for my son and IR1 for my wife.
We received an email from NVC saying that they are now getting in touch with the Embassy for an interview slot for my son. But not for my wife. My wife's case is the one I am worried about.
Seeing that they were both accepted at the same time through USCIS, my guess is that maybe that email from my son's case is valid for both. Would be strange to arrange an interview for a 3 year old at the Embassy without his mother who is in the same process.

Hi Eric,

Hopefully you can manage to get your son and your wife interviewed together  at the same time.

Can I ask you to share with us the timeframe from the moment you get DQ'd to the interview being scheduled ? ( Once your wife and son will be scheduled obviously )

Also, how long did it take to get DQ'd for your wife ?

I'm asking because mine will also be at Paris embassy and we might slow down the process, depending on the time to get the ITW scheduled.

Thank you !

Denis

Hi Denis,

NVC received our case from USCIS on the 1st of August and it seems that we were accepted on the 6th of January. Although, there was a document missing for one of our cases which slowed the process down by 1.5 months. We are now waiting for an interview date.

At what stage are you at?

Hopefully it wont take too long to get an interview date.

So without any missing document, it would be around 3 months to get DQ'd.

Still waiting for our I-130 to be approved. PD is 9th of June 2022, Nebraska SC so about 2 more month waiting.

Current NVC review timeframe is around 1 month.  Check the official NVC announcement page here -- https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html

For CR1/IR1 and other Immediate Relative cases, it typically takes only around 1 week to get the NVC welcome letter after I-130 approval.  That published timeframe covers other visa categories as well, and they do take 3 months or so, based on reports here on VJ.
