Timing from N400 submission to Interview

 Share

Hello,

Does anyone have any ideas of rough timings from submission of n400 to interview? I am planning to submit my n400 in the coming days, but I already have a vacation planned in around 6 weeks. I am unable to move the vacation without considerable financial loss.

Should I hold off sending the N400?

Can the N400 interview be moved?

Thanks

Interview in 6 weeks after N-400 submission is unlikely.

Even biometric appointment in 6 weeks after submission is a small chance.

Either file now and accept the small risk of receiving biometrics, or file after vacation.

Generally the process takes several months. You can check processing times here

It is unlikely that your N-400 would be scheduled for an interview within a 6 week period. How long is your vacation?

My Interview happened 8 weeks after I submitted my Naturalization application.

Agreed, it can happen, but we haven't seen too many of those to say it's the mainstream. As explained to OP, it's a little risk.

I see your local office USCIS office is in El Paso - mine was too and it was quick-  this goes the same with my other 2 adult children. My 2 children took 12 weeks from filing to when they were scheduled to an interview. I think El Paso USCIS -Both Biometric and where they do the interview does not look too busy. - Good luck on your upcoming interview.

Are you filing 90 days before eligible?

Been eligible for ages now, maybe 6 months. I was quite happy to just be with the 10yr greencard but with that being stuck since July 21 (SRC!) I am going ahead with the N400. I am currently on a conditional greencard, still married, nothing too unusual with our case.

There is a  possibility if you file today that you will be scheduled for an interview while on vacation.

Worst case if there was a clash, can it be moved?

My only other option is hold off a couple of weeks before submission
