"'Rust' actor and producer Alec Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed will each be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Halyna Hutchins on the film’s Santa Fe County set in 2021,” New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies announced in statement Thursday morning.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Good luck to the prosecution on this one. He'll fight this out and it'll be a huge thing on TV probably. Are the charges right? Yeah probably, but I have a weird feeling a jury will be sympathetic as he blames the armorer for everything. Interesting that one of them took a plea deal.

It’s Santa Fe County, NM, so I expect you are correct that he will get a sympathetic jury.  Regardless he won’t do any time.

He has brought out the self-serving line about if he thought he was in any way responsible, he would kill himself, so he must be completely innocent.

I really don't like Alec Baldwin but I don't know how he can be held responsible for this.  It seems like the armorer would be the one responsible but I really haven't paid that much attention to this.  Because I really don't like Alec Baldwin.

I thought he already offered a settlement to the family of the woman he killed.  I think there is a couple of other suits, but not sure where those are.

Charges against Alec Baldwin have been reduced https://deadline.com/2023/02/alec-baldwin-shooting-rust-da-drops-gun-enhancement-charge-halyna-hutchins-1235265709/

 

You cannot charge someone under a statute that was not in place at the time they committed the crime. Instead of mandatory five years, he now faces 18 months. I have a feeling this will still be hard to get, wouldn't be surprised if charges get dropped.

So sad that he will actually get away with murder.  But money has that effect on the law.
