Being optimistic

Now here's my question and I know this will sound stupid. I got all our paperwork ready for the AOS and the only documents missing are certified copy of our marriage certificate from the court house (of which, we will be working on today), vaccination supplement - I-693A (of which, we'll be doing on Wed) and David's 2006 ITR (since I submitted the original during my interview, we will ask for a copy from his tax lady). My question is, if we get to mail the AOS packet on the 25th of July (I am being optimistic and I'm working so hard for that to happen) and get there in Chicago 1 or 2 days after, are we really able to file before the fee increase on July 30th? I know I'm being stupid here, but I just want to make sure that our packet will not be returned and we'll be asked to issue another check amounting to $1100 once it gets there or to somebody's desk. I will appreciate any helpful advice and please bear with me.

As long as it is post marked before July 30th, then you will not have to pay the increased fee.... regardless of when it lands on someones desk...

Thank you... I've read it too at USCIS portal. I am so relief and hopefully, my optimism will prevail.

They go by the POST MARK, so if you mail it on the 25th you wont have a problem, you can even mail it this Saturday the 28th without a problem. The Post Mark is the day it is mailed, NOT the day that they receive the package.

Use Priority mail, Certified, with receipt card, that way you will have a copy of the post mark.

USCIS reminds its customers that the agency's new fee schedule is effective on July 30, 2007. Applications or petitions postmarked or otherwise filed on or after that date must include the new fee.

They are supposed to go by the postmark, but I know Yodrak has said repeatedly that his wife's was postmarked BEFORE the last fee increase, and he sent it back a few times explaining why he shoudn't have to pay the increased fees - and it was a fight that he wasn't winning, so he just paid up. So it could go either way...
