First Time Entry with An Immigrant Visa and Re-entry

Hi All,

We've had a bit of a delay which means that we aren't able to move as soon as we had hopped.

Our visa expires at the end of April so we wanted to travel to the USA next month, during the school holidays, and trigger the green card.

However, we want to return back to the UK after a week and potentially move permanently to the US before the end of April.

Will we have issues with our re-entry, can we re-enter with our stamped passports or do we need to re-enter with the Green cards (assuming we get the cards posted to us once they've arrived at our mailing address)?

Are there any other potential issues or concerns?

Also we are entering via a different port to what we have our mailing address as, will this be an issue?

Many Thanks

Your endorsed immigration visa serves as a temporary GC for 12 months, so you should be fine.  Personally, I would not trust anyone getting the physical GC to you abroad.   Also, you can enter at any port, but if you are talking about entering the first time with your USC spouse, but coming through separate ports, keep in mind your USC spouse has to proceed you or be with you upon your first entry using your spousal visa.  There was a story 1-2 years ago of a couple coming to the US on different flights and the USC spouse was delayed causing issues for the immigrating spouse.

Good Luck!
