Manila K1 medical exam duration

Hi Folks,

 

My fiancée has her K1 medical exam appointment booked for later this month in Manila. For others who have gone through this, how long does it normally take (e.g. whole day or half day?), and has anyone had to take more than one day to complete it? I am hoping it normally takes one day, only. I ask because we have plans to go out of town on the following day.

Very few people complete it in a single day, but it does happen. Most get done in two days. If day 2 is a day for immunizations, you should be in the clear.

 

That being said, you may want to consider holding off any out of town plans.

 

Some applicants are asked to return for a sputum test (you will know if she gets handed a green piece of paper)...that extends your wait time to 2 more months.

Most are parts of two days.  Best to adjust your expectations and possibly your travel plans

Thank you @marriedtomrg and @IWander . My fiancée has rescheduled her exam to eleven calendar days before our travels to account for multiple visits to SLEC.

Here's an update for future reference; my fiancée attended her medical exam as scheduled on a Friday. She was then scheduled to go back on the following Monday to get immunization shots. After getting her shots on Monday, she was given the medical exam results to take to her upcoming K1 visa interview at the US embassy.

Was your fiancee given a sealed envelope with the medical results?  As far as I know, SLEC already uses the e-Medical system, so the medical results will be transmitted electronically to the US embassy.  Maybe your fiancee was given a personal copy of her vaccination worksheet?

I asked her for clarification. She says the packet contains vaccination info as well as medical exam results. It's for US immigration during her entry into the country, and not for the interview.

The packet she got from SLEC is for her personal records.  When she gets her K1 visa from USEM, it may come with an envelope marked "DO NOT OPEN".  It is that envelope that she should hand over to the CBP officer when she enters the US.  CBP will not accept unsealed documents from her.  That envelope will contain the official medical results document, among other case documents that will be transmitted by CBP to USCIS.  She should not hand over her personal copy of the vaccination worksheet from SLEC.  When she files for AOS after you two get married, she should include a photocopy of her vaccination worksheet in her I-485 package.

The vaccination worksheet is not required as the original will be in the do not open envelope.  For medical information to be valid for immigration purposes, chain of custody must be maintained and that chain was broken for the personal copy of the worksheet

Saint Luke's will transmit the physical results and vaccination records to the embassy. The consul will (hopefully) have it in their system at the time of the interview.

 

The vaccination worksheet provided is just for personal records. But it is potentially very important after they arrive in America if they need proof of vaccinations for school or for work in a job like health care etc.  So do keep it with other important documents.

what will happen if the consul does not have the results at the time of the interview?

Its happened from time to time.  Usually it just results is a slight delay in the issuance of the visa.
