Hi there!

This is my first time asking a question here so sorry if its in the wrong subsection.

We applied for the I-129F in August 2022, and were really hoping for a July 2023 wedding. Do you guys think this is possible or am I being a little delusional and should accept a much later date?

thank you

Currently it’s about 15.5 months for an approval on a I-129f, which will put you around November approval. Then you have to consider the NVC stage and depending on your embassy, it could be an additional month or two for an interview.

I myself am a July 2022 filer and I’m aiming for a wedding in early 2024 wedding.

Nowadays expect to wait at least 18 months

Oh that’s a long long time.
what if we decided to apply for a CR1 and got married outside the US? Would it take that long too?
And would a this k1 visa application negatively impact the outcome of the cr1?
thank you

CR1 is a much more superior visa. It would take about the same time

I’ve considered this myself a few times, but you would be starting over from scratch. From filing to visa in hand, it’s roughly 18 months right now for a CR-1. (About 10 months for the initial approval, but the NVC and interview process can be quite a bit longer). But you would avoid the whole AOS chaos.
Sticking with your K-1 will get you to the USA quicker at this point, but it’s a personal preference if switching to the CR-1 would be worth it since you’ll be able to travel and work right away.

August 2022 - likely February 2024 approval action if you're lucky to be in the first wave and your case is easy - and May 2024 RFE action if your case is complicated.
