We definitely want to work on giving more fine grain data. Eventually we would like to roll out personalized estimates, which we are currently focusing on. But I will have this 50%/80% in my mind and probably soon add some columns!

That would be amazing to have! It would make the wait better and give us more insight into what's ahead! Thank you so much!

Those cases account for 81 of the cases in the backlog. We were talking about this one when we were building a database and you just reminded us that we didn't finalize it and decided if we should put them under approved or rejected (since they are not either of those). We definitely have to do this until tomorrow's update, so thank you for that! Any suggestions where we should put them? We were thinking rejected, since they are not really approved, but we are open for suggestions!

Ohh awesome to hear, I was wondering where those cases were falling. To me the "benefit received by other means" means that their I-130 was approved, so I count them as approved (honestly it's because CaseTracker App also counts them as approved) but I understand that in a detailed data like yours, those cases can skew the approved numbers. I haven't encounter any case that I assumed was a denied K3/I-130 in February 22 but I think there was one in December, I can be confused and I honestly don't remember the verbiage. Those should be super rare as well.

It's hard to fit them in any category, but maybe for the sake of people not thinking a lot of approvals are K1 when they are actually being closed like that, you can put them in rejected and maybe if it's super necessary add a note/small table somewhere to count those and explain they are included in the rejected number. Beginning of las month there were 22 cases in Feb 2022 alone that were closed like that, and even though I count them as approved, I see that it skews the number up.

I am glad that these are being considered now into the data too, so choose anywhere you feel more appropriate and that would be less work for you as well!

Good idea, I will add the info into Read Me and explain under which processed category those statuses fall. Thank you for your thoughts! We will think about it and include it in tomorrow's update.

Maybe because they're inbetween-y, "Withdrawn" would be the better category? Then they can be acknowledged without being considered either approved or denied.

Yep!

We are December 2022, and I already have created steps of what comes next, along with links and anecdotes, and examples, so hopefully we can hit the ground running when it's time (less the new waiting that comes with the NOA2).

SAME! Hahaha im glad im not the only one 🤣

Yes, I think they can be either on "rejected" or "withdrawn" because they result in possibly the same amount of work from USCIS (just updating the case to close it), and that way there won't be another category for processed cases, especially because they are a bit rare (only 81 according to Obllak above). And even though the visa was granted, doesn't really take effect on 129-f approvals.

I think I just prefer rejected but it's a personal preference – I definitely like to see the real withdrawals number to see how many people got into this and either decided to take another route or people whose relationship wasn't really strong enough to begin with to survive this process. It's tragic (even though it helps clear backlog) but I do pay attention to it, like a car crash you just need to look at (that sounds like an awful comparison, but it's true).

Haha, I also enjoy reading into the data like that! But based on what you said above, if you consider that "Withdrawls" includes people who take another route, then "benefit received by other means" would fit nicely in that category I think.

Oh yeah, that does make sense. It means they did go with another route, the I-130 (and filed I-129f for the now rare K3) so they weren't qualified for K1 to begin with. I saw in another thread that K3 is so rare now that only 1 or 2 are approved by year.

Any guesses as to when they will be starting February? Do we know how many weeks it took between them starting December and starting January?

They're getting close to 50% through January, so I'd say in the next couple of weeks we should see them slowly start getting some February cases closed.

I was going to say the same. I am interested to see at what percentage they move onto to the next month

I took some time and looked through the threads and it seems they started around feb 1 and march 1 for the new months. so by april 1 we should get the into feb if the trend holds. i personally think even late march sounds possible

I’m a February filer and I couldn’t be more excited also to see when they will start February! Haha I do think it will be around the 50% mark, and to me they are moving SUPER fast with January. Could be just a biased opinion since I definitely look at January in more detail, but it seems pretty fast.

On the other hand, more than a month already with no significative movement in February 2022. Just one expedite case was approved and that’s it. Can’t wait to see the real activity start!
