Hi there, and happy afternoon.

I was curious if anyone knew anything about an I-130 that was canceled because the petitioner and the NVC didn't communicate. A friend called me today to tell me that his case was going to be canceled and that it has been more than a year since he was documentarily qualified . He also said that he has received a letter stating that he will have to  reapply. Just curious because I’ve never heard of this happening.

Why was it cancelled?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Because apparently you have to keep in contact with NVC even if you’ve paid all of your fees and were dq’d. It’s been a year for them and due the fact that they just waited for a decision and didn’t reach out that’s why it’s being cancelled. I’ve personally never heard of such a thing. I was able to find it online though.

Hello everyone!
my mom had her interview on 7/31. Everything went fine but they requested my original birth certificate which we sent the next day. They kept her passport.

she got an email 3 days ago that they got the document.
How long can it take for her to have her passport back? I check the CEAC and the USCIS website but I can’t find anything. How can we know that it was approved and mailed back?

thanks

Thank you for reaching out.

how long after your first parent was your second parent approved? I am in the same boat right now.. 1st parent approved Monday .....nothing yet for second parent..so at a week now...did you wait until the uscis approved the second parent before doing any of the NVC steps for first parent?

@pushok - I recommend reaching out to USCIS through your senator. It helped me in getting action from USCIS for my pending parent application. One parent application got approved in Jan 2024 and the other one was pending since then.

how did you go about this process? first parent was approved by uscis a week ago and still nothing on second :(
