My daughter who is a US Citizen filed an I130 for me in September of 2020.  I have since created my CEAC account,  submitted all requested docs and paid all fees.  its now 2023 and i am thinking that the police record may be expiring soon and still no interview date.  I really do not understand the timelines being published as I see no where that it takes 3 years to complete the processing for an IR5.  Can you please say if there is anything I can do to speed things up?

You can appoint a lawyer to sue.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Normally you wouldn't get the police report until you had an interview date.

There is nothing really to do to speed it up; you are in the queue with lots of other people who have been waiting even longer.

They asked that police record be uploaded as a civil document, thats why I did.  I hear about the backlog but I was just wondering if I was too far behind. Thank you.

Ah, okay.   Well hopefully you’ll get a date prior to the police record’s expiration.

For US immigration purposes, police certificates are valid for 2 years from issue date.  Get a new one if yours will be more than 2 years old before your interview.

Thank you Chancy.  I got notice of case being documentarily complete today.  Awaiting interview date from Consulate in Kingston. Can anyone say what the approximate wait time has been lately between being documentarily complete and notice of interview date in Jamaica?

Took my mother in law a year. Case was DQ Januuary 2022, interview is this month. You have to remember Kingston was still catching up from Covid. Hopefully they are moving along faster and it won’t take as long for you. You will need another police certificate once you get the interview date.
