What should the card be like

Hi All,

just wanted to let you know that we have an interview, K1 visa, scheduled on the of Aug :) :)

and now the question:

my fiancee's father would like to throw us an eloborate farewell party before his daughter joins us here in America--I will be in attendance at the party.

The father is insistent that we print cards and invite tons of people from his family/friends circle: as such, I'd like to know: what should the wording of the card be. I don't want, at a later date, any doubts on the party and remove all dobuts that the party is not a wedding party but rather a farwell party.

Should it state something like "The father's name, would like to invite YOU to a dinner to celebrate Daughter name and my Name on Date, XYZ"

Please help us!

Thnx & GL

Simple, call it an "Engagement" party. You are "engaged" to be married, correct?

Best of luck to you both!

How about something like this:

Dear xxxxx,

We would be honored to have you in attendance at the engagement party of our daughter xxxxxxxx and our future son-in-law xxxxxxxxxxx. They will be married in America on xxxxxxxxxx and want to show their appreciation to you for being a part of their life. They will be leaving (country name) on xxxxxxxxxx to begin their life long journey together.

I'm a little bit confused by the wording of your post. Do you want them to know it's an engagement party or just a going away party?
