Hello,

I'm the petitioner for my Australian fiance and I have been living abroad with him since September 2022. I'm on a work and holiday visa which will expire September 1st of this year. I'm concerned with proving US domicile. I'm using my parents address as my US domicile. I've had mail and my taxes sent there for years.

I have :

•US health insurance

•I will be renewing my NY ID

•A US bank account that I've had for over 10 years

•A US phone plan

•I have filed US taxes every year

•Visa papers proving my living abroad is temporary (because it's only a year visa)

•Mail sent to this address

•I have a US credit card I still use frequently

•I also have a pet in the US I intend to return too but im not sure if this is proof or not?

Does this seem like enough? I know I haven't been living abroad long but im still a little concerned because I don't have a car or anything. Thanks so much!

Why are you doing a K1?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I doubt it will be an issue, so you are heading home in September?

That seems the strongest evidence

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I assume you have a joint sponsor

My general rule of thumb is to take all the paperwork and just show it if requested

Will you be attending the interview? Best to check they allow not all do

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Yes my father is my joint sponsor and okay perfect I'll take everything I can. Thank you

Honestly I'm not sure if I'll be attending. I believe I've heard of petitioners joining their beneficiaries at the Sydney embassy but im not 100%. Honestly we havent even discussed it

My impression is that it is more common for spouses to attend, London certainly used to allow it but I am out of date on current practice

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
