No joke, I've seen eggs being sold for $15-20 in some Bay Area stores. The other day me and another gentleman grabbed two remaining packs on the shelf at large Target store (was around $8 for the dozen).

Here, "cage-free" eggs are now less than caged eggs.  Why?

60 egg boxes have fallen from $25 to $19 here.

Was still $8.99 for 18 this weekend. Made the cake that needs 8 whole eggs for the cake and six yolks for the frosting anyway; it better be good. 🙂

How did it do?

I swear, some organic eggs I get at my local grocery don't look or taste organic. They have this *watery* portion in it that's not normal. I swear, I have no idea how these pass as organic. I bought the last 3 weeks ago and haven't even finished it because every time I'm about to cook, I remember that watery portion and just give up.

So, once in a while when I visit my mom up North, she has 3 dozens saved for me from a local breeder.

That doesn't sound appealing at all.

When my girls are in high gear I save some for my sons too.

Not too bad, though much better warm than out of the fridge (I'd made it on Sunday, my birthday was Tuesday, and there's only the three of us so I didn't want to just leave it on the counter).

Coconut pecan frosting, despite using four different sweeteners (ran out of what I used for 80% and tried to finish off with remains of other almost-empty bags), tasted very much like the original especially when warm. Almond flour-based cake, less so.

I raised my prices to $5 a dozen. Ppl have not even bat an eye on the increase.  Although from the farmers market I could be getting $9 a dozen as my chickens lay lager then jumbo eggs.

The last time we bought cage free eggs was October, and they were $3.98/dozen. The same eggs are now listed at $5.12/dozen. These are Walmart prices.

In December, we stopped by Publix to grab a few things, and paid $5 for just six eggs. At the time I didn't know what was going on and I was shocked at the price.

Edit: Just checked an older order, and we paid $2.48 for a dozen cage free eggs in April 2022.

My wife's sister in Russia has chickens.  Talked with her last weekend and was asking about eggs over there.  Not sure how many chickens she has, but she is averaging 17 eggs per day.  Many go to family members and the rest she sells.  They don't sell by the dozen, instead they sell based on 10 at a time.  She gets 120 rubles for 10 eggs which is just under $2.

She could have a lucrative export business...

International shipping only starts becoming reasonable when you're moving shipping containers full of stuff, which would defeat said plan even if Vlad didn't...

She should procure or breed more chickens post-haste!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
