Does The IV Fee "expire"? Can it be extended

Hello.  I did a search on VJ for this and couldn't find anything on point so....We.Paid the IV fee on March 22, 2022. Interview is not yet scheduled and case just left the NVC for Manila Embassy on January 9.  We're not in a hurry, but if the fee does really expire, can I just pay it again or what do we do?  Hoping someone's got an answer for this.  Thanks

I’ve never heard of the IV fee expiring. It doesn’t.

AOS and IV fees are one time. They do not expire.

What do you mean case just left January 9th? Did you expedite or get Interview letter? If not your case remains at NVC until a interview is scheduled by NVC. And Manila is about at 9 to 12 months wait after DQ.

You may be thinking of the MRV fee associated with K1, B2 and other non-immigrant visas and expires in 1 year.  That's not at all the same thing as the IV fee on an immigrant visa.  If the case is already transferred to USEM on one of those weird newfangled unrequested expedites that have been going on at USEM lately  (????) you would probably be asked to self schedule the interview (??). In which case you could just not schedule the interview for up to a year if you are planning to delay.  If you need more than a year, or if the NVC or the Embassy schedule an interview for you, just contact the Embassy and cancel until you are ready.

We never requested an expedite, but got this email on the 9th:

Dear [edited],

The U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in MANILA, PHIL approved your request for expedited processing of your immigrant visa application. The National Visa Center sent your immigrant visa application to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in MANILA, PHIL for their action. The Embassy/Consulate General will contact you soon to schedule a visa interview.

We're not the only ones who got the mystery expedite.
