This is cruel. She likely doesn't understand what a gas stove is. She likely thinks a gas stove is powered by gasoline, and if so, I am good with banning indoor gasoline stoves.

Me and my husband grew up with gas in the house. I don't even honestly recall if we had a monitor installed. I'm not sure if you've guys actually have taken a look at the study in question but it is interesting as it's nothing to do about poisoning but other chemicals getting into the air and causing asthma, lung damage, and other effects. Now I lived in a house built in the 40s/50s.. it had a super fan with a chain and it would suck the living daylights out of anything in that kitchen instead of a range hood. In my husband's house they really didn't have any proper ventilation, and on several occasions he recalls C02 problems and feeling sickly. That issue also happens a lot in the city, because of very old buildings, bad infrastructure. People get blown up and die from poisoning all the time. But this study really is talking about effects that build up over time with regard to breathing and other health problems. Maybe it's a contributing factor? Who knows. It would seem, proper ventilation and monitors would certainly assist those with gas stoves. Simple steps rather than giant leaps. FWIW, neither one of us came out with asthma, but we do have others with asthma in our families and do have allergy issues.
