US Immigrant Visa - EB3 (Jakarta/Montreal)

Hello! I'm a new member and just found this thread recently. I used to lurk around Reddit but seems not many people talked about it in the Immigration/USCIS thread. So I'm here to try out my luck and to inquire some information on timeline/experience in regards to Immigrant Visa specifically Employment Based.

Long story short: I'm an Indonesian citizen who is sponsored by my U.S. company for EB-3 (I'm in tech). I'm currently residing in Canada (Toronto). I'm still in the process of preparing to file I-140 (PP) at the moment, and my company's lawyer mentioned that I can take the Immigrant Visa interview either in Jakarta or Montreal. However, they don't have any insight as to which one is more timely efficient/safer. So I have done a little digging into the Montreal consulate, and I have been hearing EBs are definitely not prioritized right now and the wait time is backlogged for 2 years. Not only that, many are also placed in administrative processing (I'm not sure if this applied to Canadian only?). I'm not sure if these information is an accurate reflection of Montreal embassy or not. On the other hand, I can't find a single information about the Jakarta consulate nor anyone talked about it.

Therefore, I'm here to see if anyone has ever gone through the interview in Jakarta? If so what's the timeline looks like for getting your interview scheduled after your I-140 is approved or receiving the NVC welcome letter? Also those who have gone through the Montreal consulate, care if you share the same? I'd highly appreciate any response.

Thank you.

Check the thread below.  Title says EB2, but those with other EB cases also post updates --

I do not remember any EB3 Jakarta, not that I see every post, so yes it is unusual here.

Now there are a lot of Canadian EB3's and especially Indian, my impression is that the numbers are sort of linked to those who get work visa's, most seem to have had those.

The exception maybe Nursing EB3.

I can't comment on that specific visa type, but the wait time for other visas at the Jakarta consulate is significantly less than in countries such as Canada and India. My in-laws were able to schedule a tourist visa appointment within 3 weeks over the summer. Also, just by reading the posts here on VJ for marriage and K-1 visas, the timeline isn't so bad for Indonesian applicants either.

For a country of its size, Indonesia doesn't seem to have many US visa applicants. If I were you, I'd probably go for the "Jakarta option" instead of the Canadian one. Just my 2 cents. This is assuming you don't mind going back to Jakarta for the interview.

Removing Conditions Timeline

Aug. 10, '17: Mailed in I-751

Aug. 21, '17: NOA1

October 23, '18: NOA2- approval

October 30, 18: 10-year GC received
