Hello,

I filled I-130 Petition for Alien Relative for my parents, the first case was approved On May 20, 2022 and the second case was approved at the same day but I corrected a typo in the date of the birth then I got the approval On October 18, 2022. I never got any updates since that time. Today I checked the status and I was surprised to see the that case was closed :

Thanks alot

No, it is not.   Did you upload the required documentation to NVC as instructed?

Is your case at NVC?   Normally after approval at the service center, it is sent to NVC and you upload required civil and supporting documents to become “documentarily qualified.”

Are you an LPR?

I only got the approval notice through my mail. I’m a US citizen applying for my parents. I was expecting another mail for NVC to explain the next steps but never got anything and all of sudden I see my case is closed in USCIS website

Do you have a CEAC account?   I believe you would have been able to upload documents to that account.

I don’t have CEAC account! I will create one right now :( I’m still shaking because the case is closed

Hmm, I think you should be okay.   Hopefully a member with more direct experience doing family visas will come along.   I did a K-1, so NVC was only minimally involved.

I do recall seeing comments that cases won’t be administratively closed until a year of inactivity has elapsed, however, and yours has not been that long.

You can't just create a ceac account. NVC has to create it for you and provide you case and invoice number to login.

Don't you have approval receipt in the documents section in your screenshoot? You'll need to contact NVC to see if they've received your approved cases from USCIS.

What did you find after creating the CEAC account?  Will it let you upload any documents?

Thanks for mentioning that, I wasn’t sure how CEAC accounts were created.

Thank you guys for reassuring me. Yes I think I made a mistake because I supposed to send I-824 to USCIS 🥲 but still I don’t have any justification why they closed my case!

I don't think you should worry. My parents i-130 were approved 1/3/23,  online I see the same  Case Closed for both applications ( must be a new thing). I haven't received the letter in mail yet, only saw the PDF on my account.

Did you select adjustment of status on the I-130 but need to change it for consular processing?

If so, USCIS will not do anything with the I-130s until you send in the I-824.  After they receive and process the I-824, they will send the I-130s to NVC.
