Is anyone getting a decent rate for overseas phone calls? The best Ive found so far is 16 cents a minute calling from Texas to Rabat. I kind of prefer to use phone cards since I call him from so many different places (work, home, cell, etc). Also, does anyone know of a way to get the records of numbers called on a pre-paid card?

Thanks all :)

I used IDT as well but mostly buy a prepaid card called chat card. I call him everyday, but I try to use my cell phone when I call him with the prepaid card because it logs every call you make. Also I called him from my home phone plenty of times making my phone company richer.

I use V.O.I.P such as intouch because it's very cheap like P1.40 per minute when i call the U.S and so much cheaper than my fiance calling me(imagine how cheap that is, PESOS!!). And they also keep all the Phone records in your account on their website so You can have a copy from the day you started talking. I still have a copy since the first time I called him using this and that was still around august last year. :D I don't know what you guys use there... VONAGE i guess..

You can't get a record of your calls, but our favorite calling card for Morocco (most reliable, least likely to overcharge us) is called Coffee Time. I used to use Skype sometimes too... more expensive (around $.30 a minute, I think) but I got a record of my calls and the sound was usually better and they didn't have all those extra charges that eat away at your minutes.

I use g-phone (www.gphone.com), similar to IDT but the rate for Jordan is much cheaper. I find this service to be alot more reliable than calling cards. They send you a invoice at the end of every month which the calls on it and it gets automatically deducted from ur checking acct.

I also have my cell phone registered with them, so I just call directly from my phone.

I used IDT before my husband joined me, they have great records. Now that he is here he uses IDT too. Out of all the calling cards and even my cell phone and home phone, IDT has worked the best for us.

I just discovered idt card - prepaid service recommended by someone here...when you sign up using the internet and set up an account with them you are able to obtain a print out of calls with dates, numbers and duration her is the link:Idt calling card what I like the most about it is that once set up you can save numbers from which you will be calling and there is no necessity for pin numbers or such...just simple dial...check it out...

these are ridiculous rates. I pay 12 cents a minutes. that sight says 65 cents a minute.

Thanks ella :) It looks pretty good to me. The rate is just a tad more than Im paying now (a whopping 2 cents more), but Im going to test-drive it when my current card runs out.

I just checked the Skype website for you and this is the latest call rate: Rabat $ 0.257

It is not as cheap as 16 cents, but you can call your partner for free using skype pc to pc call.

Good Luck

I have to get the info. I have it at home. I will post tomorrow with it. You have to open an account with them and call an 800#. they will send a bill to your house monthly.

A little update: I bought an IDT card last night and I love it! The connection is quick and clear, and there's none of that ridiculous 3-minute rounding.

I'm using Sunrocket (like vonage), but cheaper. $17/month, incl tax. Unlimited domestic calls, $0.03/minute to Moscow and St Petersburg. It's $0.03 to much of the world - plus, no calling cards to deal with. You can download call logs from their site.

If high speed internet is available where you are trying to call - best thing is to get one of the sunrocket boxes, and ship it to the person you want to reach. Then, they can call you (for free), and you can call them for almost free (local call). They can also call anyone in the US for free. Of course, this depends on them having DSL/cablemodem/etc - not availble in much of the world.
