I am preparing the paperwork for submitting my I-751. I noticed on my Tax Return Copy it is marked Clients Copy and is unsigned is this going to be a problem? I submitted my signed original to the IRS. Thanks

Somewhere on VJ I saw that IRS Transcripts were preferred over your copies of tax returns. Mike called IRS and ordered these over the phone - it's free, and a fully automated system so you don't even have to talk to anyone at IRS. Ours took about a week to arrive.

Tax transcripts are WAY better evidence. Surprised USCIS doesn't require them yet.

Anyone can make out a 1040, sign it, submit it to USCIS and not even submit it to IRS.

Tax transcripts prove you filed.

Ex! For the I-864 if you submit tax transcripts. W2s and 1099s aren't even reqiured!!

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

I would call the IRS and have them fax you a copy of your transcript... that would be the best way to approach it. Otherwise, a signed copy is fine as well.

I WILL SAY IT LIKE IT IS, DO NOT TAKE MY COMMENTS PERSONALLY

I visited the IRS site at www.irs.gov and yes it is a free service for transcripts. Since I started preparing the I-751 which doesn't need to be submitted until September 21, 2007 it will give me plenty of time to request what I need and have it available for my package. Thanks for all your advice.

I thought there was a tax office that is attached to the embassy. we had a problem with taxes, and they knew before the end of the interview. I wonder why they need this paperwork when they can see for the most part what the tax office has and hasn't. Or am I jumping to conclusions?

I ask the question because I have sent a package with some of my main sponsors tax documents left out. I now have copies of these documents on their way to London. My wife has put her mother as co-sponsor, and all her paperwork was in the package with my passport via secure mail services. I insisted my wife file her taxes for last year anyway, as she would still be the main sponsor still. She filed, but was too late for me to run up copies for the SMS pickup. But , what I'm wondering is, if they know so much information about you taxes why do they need paper copies?

Just wondering

Nearly there now,

Sam

Wild Wind,

No, I don't think so. But you and your wife could sign the copy that you have if it makes you feel more comfortable.

Recognize that the purpose of tax returns for removal of conditions is significantly different from the purpose of tax returns for obtaining a visa or adjusting status. One needs only the 1040, not the complete return, for removal of conditions.

beckypua's point about the IRS tax transcript being better evidence than a photocopy of the return is a good one, though.
