Sirtuins, a family of genes found in everything from yeast to humans, may tell us why we age and how we can live longer, healthier lives. When food runs scarce, these genes, particularly SIR2 in yeast and SIRT1 in mammals, act as our bodies' guardians, beefing up DNA repair and delaying cell death. Recent studies show that mice with activated SIRT1 can even evade (for a while) the diseases associated with aging, including cancer and diabetes, while yeast given a few extra copies of the SIR2 gene will live up to 50 percent longer. This special was just on tv saying the average age now is 78 and 1 in 10,000 will live to be a hundred. THey found in those late 90s and 100 when interviewed that they had been eating whatever they wanted, countinued to drink some and continued to smoke some all against doctors orders of course, so why and how did they make it so long.

Whats your thoughts on finding this miracle thing to let everyone live longer and would you want some of it??? One thing they were looking at is significant diet with less calories.
