Timeline

Yes. He was awarded a scholarship but because of the denial, he still have it but he can't use the scholarship. Last year, his school sent him his Associate Degree Certificate. Going further with his schooling will be too expensive for me. Now, he intend to do online course in another school instead of just sitting at home.

Sounds like your son has no option but to return to Nigeria unless of course he was married to a US citizen but there is no path for him to adjust through you or your spouse

Okay, thank you. Despite turning 22 this year, I don't want him to rush into marriage. He's not ready, not mature enough to start a family.

Very smart. He should go back to Nigeria, maybe do the youth service corps. When you get your documentation you can petition for him but unfortunately  as others have mentioned he may have incurred a ban.
