Hey guys!

Just got an email from the NVC in response to an enquire I sent, saying:

We forwarded your immigrant visa petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate on 01-MAR-2023.”

But I’m confused because I don’t have a case number and wasn’t given one in the email. Does anyone know why? Do I maybe not need one for my country (New Zealand)? I guess I maybe don’t even need it since they said they’ve already sent it to my embassy haha! I’m confused can I celebrate?! 😅🙌

You 100% need a case number for your DS-160, file an inquiry immediately and ask for it

Your NOA2 was on 01/27/2023, yes?

I haven't heard anything on my NOA2 from 01/25/2023. Bit nervous now that they've moved further 🥴

Does your case status on USCIS say anything other than `Case Was Approved`?

Yeah that’s the date! Oh man, surely they’ll get onto it soon, I figure they do it in a vague way that might not necessarily be chronological

Noa2 1/31/23

NVC inquiry sent and received case # 03/06/23. Completed DS160 application as advised by another member and printed confirmation page. I dont have welcome letter yet but once received is there a designated place online in CEAC to upload forms or will beneficiary have to print the documents and take to interview?

Please advise.

Does your USCIS case status on https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do still say approved even though NVC has received and processed it?

I reached out to USCIS and they said it doesn't seem to be sent out from USCIS but there'a s few people with later NOA2 dates that have already received responses on NVC.

My NOA2 date was 01/25/2023.

Yes mine still says approved. Have you received your NOA 2 physical letter? If yes you should be contacting NVC not USCIS. Did you email using online inquiry form & not the direct email? I did both but I got an answer from NVC from the online form and no response from when I emailed them directly.

This is the online inquiry form I used that generated a response (provided you have your NOA2 letter)

Yeah, I received the physical letter of the NOA2 a few days after the update from USCIS.

I've reached out to NVC a few times but every time I get the generic response that they'll send me an update when it leaves to the consulate. I've always sent it using the Public Inquiry page.

No luck though.

A bit nervous that things have somehow got lost in transit as NVC won't tell if they've received the petition or not. What do I do?

I got that response too but it also had a case # before the comment about forwarding to consulate. Sorry I don't know why your case number wasn't included there.

Yeah, it's weird. It's as if they haven't received anything from USCIS which has been like 45 days for already.

The email essentially says:

Quote

Dear Sir/ Madam:

You will be notified once this case is forwarded to the assigned US Embassy/ Consulate General.

Regards,

Appreciate all your help. Hope to hear back soon.

Send a public inquiry according to the pdf guide posted at the top of this thread. If you ask them if it's possible to give you the case number before it is forwarded to the embassy.

I was also getting a generic response and it is frustrating. I've been sending an inquiry every week after day 30, and one time I sent one on 2 consecutive days. One IO sent in the case # then I got another reply after a few hours with the generic response. I guess it will all boil down on which IO reads your inquiry. But be patient.

It has been a week since our case became IN TRANSIT but still no update from my Embassy. Anyone experiencing the same thing?

Yep, I am in the same boat as you. Became in transit over a week ago but still no update. I would start scheduling now if you can because all appointments are booked at my embassy.
