Did George Santos lie about everything?

Why do the voters want him to resign?  Has he done a bad job for them?  If it is all about lying, well, these folks need to get over it, politicians never tell the truth especially when it leads to election/re-election campaigns.  The voters can vote him out in a little less than 2 years.

 

Like I have said before, never ever vote for an incumbent for any office that has no term limits (i.e. House member, Senator).

I think a guy that has lied about every aspect of his life in order to get elected would make his voters angry - especially if those voters voted for him because they thought he was Jewish (he's not, and has made nasty comments), making claims about 9-11, if they voted for him because they thought he was opposed to drag queens (while enjoying being one himself), the large amount of money that seems to be shady, and because they thought he had not committed any crimes (which is a bit iffy now..). How can a voter believe he will be for their causes? I'm sure some might even think he's a democrat plant if they are conspiratorially minded. Others might get on a birther train. This is the sort of nonsense that goes on with the politicians in my town.. Perhaps if Congress had some courage about morality and ethics among their ranks, they would expel him. Of course they would not do that, because his political companions would have to face the reality of very angry voters choosing a replacement that might not be helpful.

I think Santos is a POS, to be clear.  But that's NOT the reason they cannot expel him.  The reason is that if they did so, they would have to do it to MANY among their ranks, starting with the POTUS, who has been telling lies since the 70s.  Didja hear his Amtrak lie the other day?  For about the 8th time?  

 

I don't think I am far from the bullseye when I say all politicians lie.  Are they this gross?  Dunno.  This guy has certainly raised the bar.

I don't think I am far from the bullseye when I say all politicians lie.  Are they this gross?  Dunno.  This guy has certainly raised the bar.

Personally? I tend to hate the whole bothsides perspective, where one side says "well the other side does it.... and we do it too ..and we're too scared to do the right thing". You'd think taking out the trash would be popular if the party were actually interested in doing the right thing for themselves and their constituents. Why don't they worry about cleaning up their side, and actually see if it produces favorable results in voters that have restored faith and confidence, that they aren't a bunch of muppets. If you are so focused on the fire somewhere else, eventually you won't see your own house burning down.

The problem with that is one side takes the high road and the other says "hey, a political opportunity".  Regardless, there is not much the GOP can do to expel Santos from Congress for simply lying to get elected.  In the History of the Congress, there have been 20 members expelled, 17 of those were for supporting the Confederacy and the other 3 after being convicted of serious crimes.

 

As @Mike E suggested, it the House and/or Senate wants to adopt a "Santos" rule, fine, they can make the rules, but they need to be applied fairly.

Having never been on the inside as regards politics, this is by no means an insight, just opinion.  But it's my belief that a fair number of people get into those positions with good intentions, wanting positive change, but are then overwhelmed by the sheer volume of lies/bribery/trickery, etc.  Then the only options are get out or get crooked and enjoy the rewards.  Just my 2 scents.
