I couldn't remember if it was civics test or not, hence the poorly worded question 😆

Kiwi English ;) No worries, Mate!  Someone, somewhere, will make sense of it and if it makes you feel any better, I was pickin' up what you were throwin' down!

Ahh ok yes you'll get an extension letter for  your N400. My wife got hers almost instantly upon submitting payment on-line! You should receive it if not the same day a few days after, then the hard copy in the mail!

Does that show as a case status update as well or potentially just an email and then letter arrives?

Once you file online and after your payment you will get your case number starting with an IOE usually. The case number usually comes  a few minutes after your payment to your online USCIS account. We got them  a few minutes after we paid and we even also got the biometric reuse letter too! So yes it shows as a case status.

Have a case number for sure, is that what triggers the GC extension letter?

Ran through the form today and started uploading documents. Aiming to get everything finished, double checked, submitted and paid for tomorrow after I use an actual scanner to scan a couple of documents to a better quality than a phone photo 😂

This is a weird kind of stressful - this has been so easy and straightforward I feel like I've missed something important (though I'm sure I haven't!). Do you know what I mean? After all those massive forms and stacks of printouts for all the applications we've had to make along the way from K1 to AOS to ROC it's so weird being able to just... drag a file over and hit next.

I really don't know the inner workings on what triggers what, but in the case of the N-400 it all comes together.
