Had my N400 interview in Milwaukee today - super chill. I don't remember the civics questions I was asked lol but it was easy because I'd been sure to study up on them.

I brought with me originals of various docs I had uploaded as well as 2022 taxes, and up to date financials, but the officer didn't ask for any of that. All I had to hand over was my driver's license, passport, old and new green cards. He kept my old conditional green card.

So yeah, glad it was a simple matter and straightforward. I felt pretty nervous once I was in the waiting area even though I'd felt confident for weeks before 😆

Just waiting for my oath to be scheduled now! :)

You made it, it's all over but the shouting now!

Yep, I'll be back in Milwaukee. Someone else in WI has theirs on the 14th iirc but that's at the courthouse - mine's at the USCIS field office. I was actually sat near the door to the naturalization ceremony room there while I was waiting for my interview lol.

So glad you don’t have to wait!! I think the court house oaths are for name change and I suspect they only happen once a month. While I was waiting at his interview, I asked the security people if they had any idea how often they have the ceremonies. He said typically they have them every Wednesday.

My husband is shortening his ridiculously long latin name (2 first names and 3 last. His parents also included his maternal grandmother’s last name). It unfortunately hasn’t made anything easy in the American system.

We also learned that we can’t go to social security the same day to update his name. The SS website says you have to wait 10 days after naturalization, thus delaying passport application.

I changed my name and my Oath is 9/13 *not* in a courthouse. The IO said the judge signs the paperwork and I get it at the ceremony. I was worried the name change would delay everything but the IO said  no.

I filed 6/6, interview was 7/27 and oath 9/13... so within 3 months.

They said they hold ceremonies twice a month here. I wonder if it is different in every state because I read many posts about name changes having to be done at a courthouse, but at least here in Grand Rapids, not so much. Hmmm

It completely depends on each office. Some offices even do same day ceremonies. What I know is specific for Milwaukee.

Hi guys, June 13th I had my N400 interview in Nashville, went well and recommended for approval. I-751 approved same day.

I'm still waiting for the Oath Ceremony, almost waiting 3 months now, while it seems others are getting theirs really quickly. I'm in the Chattanooga, TN area.

They give you a paper that says they recommend you for approval.

The online status changes almost immediately. For some it was "In line for oath ceremony" for others it might say temporarily "admin review".

They also give you a copy of the questionnaire you need to fill out on the day of the ceremony, a list of paperwork stuff to bring with and some instructions. Then you wait for your oath date.

I know I have a different field office, but it took exactly 3 weeks from approval to oath scheduling. And I had a complete name change too (some people said this makes things take longer but in my case it wasn't true).

As Marrienne said, they give you a sheet there and then saying that you passed your civics and are recommended for approval. (It's a series of empty checkboxes for different kinds of scenarios but ofc mine was just checked on passing civis and 'congrats you're recommended for approval!').

I am pretty sure my status updated the same day to say that I was in line for oath scheduling, too. I didn't get a questionnaire given to me, but it looks like that's attached to the oath schedule letter which is yet to arrive (but I could see the PDF online)

Spoke too soon - just got a status update. My oath has been de-scheduled "due to unforeseen circumstances" so now I'm back to 'Oath will be scheduled'.

What a bummer. I'm so disappointed! Hope I don't have to wait too long :( I already scheduled other stuff around this appointment. Oh well.
