Hey guys. NEED HELP. I have N400 interview coming next week. I was going through my N400 application nad noticed that in part 10 question number 3 and 8 where they asked how many times you have been married, I had entered 1 in my info and 0 in wife's info. I think it should be 1 in both(if they are asking including current marriage) or 0 in both(if they are asking for any previous marriage). Please advise if I messed up and should I inform officer before the interview.

Part of the interview is going through the application and correcting any errors - so I think you can just inform the officer during the interview and it will be fine!

We both are married once ..we both never married before...so are they asking any previous marriage only or including current? I m confused between o or 1?

Yes I think they are asking how many times you were married, and how many times your spouse was married. If your current marriage is the only one you and your spouse had, then you would both put 1.

Just an update wife waited the 10 days after Naturalization and went to SSA yesterday. The process was simple and smooth, walk-in but we got there an hour early to wait in the long lines (she got her first taste of being American Lol) we were one of the first ones in the fast enlarging line. Once the office opened she went right inside they asked her a few questions about her birth date and location, her father's name,  her mother's maiden name and my wife's SSN, then they asked for her driver's license and finally naturalization certificate. Did a few keys strokes returned the certificate then said have a new day! And yes it was the original certificate! Passport office next week will be the last step besides receiving the passport.

Just updating following my husband's N-400 interview (Montgomery, AL Field Office).

The appointment was at 9:30AM, and we went in at 9:15AM. I was not allowed to go inside. He was called back at 9:35AM and was finished at 9:55AM.

The civics questions that he was asked:

  • Who is the current president?
  • What is the political party of the president now?
  • Why does the flag have 50 stars?
  • In what month do we vote for president?
  • Name one war fought by the US in the 1900s.
  • What does the constitution do?

He was not asked anything at all about the pending I-751, and other than confirming that we are still married, there were no questions pertaining to our relationship. She did not look at or ask for any documents, except the green card. After going through all the usual questions in the N-400, he was approved and immediately scheduled for the oath at 11:30AM today. I wasn't allowed to go inside for that either, but was able to watch through large windows into the room. The oath was finished in 15 minutes, he got his naturalization certificate, and left the office a U.S. Citizen!!!

Case status for I-751 now says "Interview Was Completed And My Case Must Be Reviewed" (which I am just ignoring, lol) and N-400 case status says "Certificate Of Naturalization Was Issued"

Very very happy to be done with this huge milestone and finished with USCIS!

Congratulations!!!!   You are free!!!!  FREE!!!!

hi Jazi, I sent mine to Texas as I was in Atlanta then. Now I am in OH... I checked with Emma live agent (not a very nice one). She told me my I-751 is in NBC now. Since I will have my interview in a month, I hope this is enough time for NBC to transfer my file to my FO.

Congratsss! I have a question about I-751. Before your interview, did you know if they would do a combo or not? Did you know if your I-751 was already  in the FO? I have my interview in a month and I really hope to avoid the I-751 pending nightmare. Thanks!

No, we had no idea whether the interview would be a combo interview so to err on the side of caution, we made sure to be prepared for a combo interview. We also had no prior indication that the I-751 was at the FO, since there were no updates after it was transferred to NBC.

However, since the pending I-751 was not even mentioned and I was not needed in the interview, my impression is that the IO had already looked at both files and had everything she needed to make a decision before my husband was interviewed.
